- Bird song and a joyous ‘homecoming’
By Gayle Weber
“It was especially priceless to recognize that we can pray in Christian Science anywhere, at any time, and hear God’s messages because divine Mind, God, is always knowing us as His infinite ideas …” Read More
- No dark night in a blizzard
By Gayle Weber
“As I pray each day with the consciousness of our protection and complete safety from every ill, Mary Baker Eddy’s phrase “be it ever so severe” feels prominent in my affection for mankind. In its entirety it reads: “Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee. I called a young man, a Christian Scientist I was dating (who is now my husband), and confided in him. He quickly pointed out that fear causes disease. We have only to realize the fullness of God’s love for every one of His children to banish the sense of intruding fear. The healing was instantaneous and permanent …” Read More
- Reaching across cultures
By Jenny Coddington Smucker
Recently I have gained a deep appreciation for the continuity that the Manual of The Mother Church gives to the ongoing life of Christian Science today. To my sense, this slim book has an undergirding Principle expressed in its pages, while leaving room for Soul’s qualities to guide branch churches in applying its rules to their unique needs … The By-Laws in the Manual, and the love they represent, protected and forwarded my own church-going experience. They enabled my family to partake of regular church attendance when we moved to a foreign country. In a culture very different from our own, being part of a church and Sunday School supported us …” Read More
